Every year the NASCAR season started with a test session at Daytona. The teams were divided in half and one half would test for three days in January and the other half would get their test the following week at the track.
It was a great time to go to the track to check out the action because the crowds were nonexistent and you could roam the track to find a good vantage point. It was also pretty exciting to see the cars again after the winter break and hearing that first engine crank over always put a smile on my face.
NASCAR changed the testing rules to where they couldn't test at tracks they race in an effort to save the teams money and level the playing field for those teams that might not have the money to test. This was the last test session held at Daytona and I've got the pictures and video.
